Dr Palferman has frequently been instructed by solicitors and agencies in medico-legal cases to act as expert witness to The Court for defendant (25%), claimant (25%) and jointly (50%).

He now accepts instructions only in highly selected cases.

Most of this work relates to trauma and occupation-induced musculoskeletal problems, chronic pain disorders, including fibromyalgia, and also where bone fragility and quality are at issue from osteoporosis.
